Missing
This project is based on emotions associated with homesickness, and missing someone from home. There are little things we do in our daily lives that we may not consciously think about, but which reflect the things we feel. An alternate title I considered for this project was “Perseverence”, to highlight the optimism at the end of the piece.

As I continued to work on this project I realized that the different qualities of light would be important to this piece- the candle light as it burns out, the edges of the shadow overtaking the compass, and the light reflecting off the girl’s hair. Low light, like that of candle light or a sunset, has a warmth I wanted to express.
