Won’t You Be My Neighbor title sequence
Alternate title sequence for the documentary based on the life and work of Mr. Fred Rogers, Won’t You Be My Neighbor.
Process
This project was an exercise in DIY.
Storyboard
props
Many of the props I planned to use were not available to me easily. Mr. Roger’s sweaters were hand knitted by his mother and so not many lookalikes were available anywhere. The Trolley to the Neighborhood of Make Believe was an antique collectible that was just a little out of my price range. What I couldn’t find, I ended up making or acquiring myself. I was lucky enough that the professor of the class had some film equipment from the appropriate time period, who also helped me find some sweaters that could stand in for Mr. Rogers’ cardigans.
(please excuse the instagram story format. I didn’t have the foresight to document properly)
The scenes were shot mostly in my bedroom studio where equipment and props would allow, and shot in the studio for when I needed the light.
MUSIC
I couldn’t find a version of the song that was appropriate to the nostalgic tone I wanted to convey, so I played it out and composited it on Garage Band.
