The Six Swans

Storyboards / styleframes

Storyboard and styleframes based on the Hans Christian Anderson tale, The Six Swans

The Six Swans tells the story about six brothers cursed to transform into swans by day and return to their human forms by night, and their sister who must sew six shirts of nettle for them to wear in order to break the curse.

The sequence plays with the motifs of light and shadow, obscurity and revelation, and the idea that things are not always as they first seem.
The style emulates the rendering of classical paintings, injected with subtle naturalistic movement, like injecting life into the still images of a fairy tale book.

This project has stalled at the motion test phase, but one day I hope to go back and animate the entire sequence.
